INTRODUCTION

The silhouette of this garment resembles the English alphabet letter "A" so, the professionals have given the name A-Line Dress to this style of garment. It is widely designed &  preferred by the kindergarten girls who are under 5-6 years of age group. 

To this particular style of garment, any type of kids-friendly fasteners or trims could be used for example two-hole shell buttons, press buttons, or even more of the same kind. The color & prints on it could be pale & subtle. Usually to this dress, a peter-pan collar or some other kind of piping work is done to the neckline region. The hem-line region could be folded and finished or any kind of decoration could be done to it.

Instruction no.1: 0-1 = Full Length

Instruction no.2: 1/4 Chest Circumference + 4cms











Instruction no.3: 1/4 Chest Circumference + 4cms

Instruction no.4: Join 1-3 and form a Square for Bodice Block


Instruction no.5: 1/2 Back Neck Width


Instruction no.6: Back Neck Depth


Instruction no.7: Front Neck Depth


Instruction no.8: Shape 4-5 for Back Neck Line


Instruction no.9: Shape 4-6 for Front Neck Line


Instruction no.10: 0-7 = Shoulder
Instruction no.11: 7-8 = 0.5cms for Shoulder slope
Instruction no.12: Join 4-8 with a straight line
Instruction no.13: 8-9 = Armscye depth + 1cm
Instruction no.14: Square out from point 9-10


Instruction no.15: Shape 8-10 for Front & Back armhole
The front armhole is slightly deeper than the back armhole

Instruction no.16: Extend the line 1-3 to point 11 for the desired flare
Instruction no.17: Join 10-11 with straight line

Instruction no.18: 11-12 = 1.5cms
Instruction no.19: Shape 1-3-12 with a slight curve

Step #1: Construct a continuous bound placket or fix a zipper at the back bodice neckline
Step #2: Attach the Shoulder seam
Step #3: Finish the front and back neckline using bias tape (facing/binding)
Step #4: Finish the side seam
Step #5: Finish the hemline
Step #6: Affix fastener attachment at back bodice, placket region

Kalamkari is a traditional method of hand painting done over natural fabric like cotton textiles. It's a detailed & complicated method of painting. In the Hindi language, the word Kalam means pen & the word Kari means Workmanship. A single word, KALAMKARI describes the entire process of its manufacturing method. 

In this method, the professionals use a special pen made out of young bamboo tubes & also, they use organic dyes extracted from natural resources for painting purposes. 

Initially, the fabric is pre-treated with milk & base color dye. Commonly, we could see more floral,  paisley, sacred animals & epic Indian characters motifs on Kalamkaris. The artisans follow 23-set of secret steps to produce this special Textile.

#1: Reason for Skip Stitches: 

Blunt or bent needles are the main reason for the skip/uneven stitches.

#2: Hand-Sewing & Embroidery Hacks: 

Double knot at end of the thread, while hand sewing, or even while making embroidery.

#3: Must-to-do before Sewing: 

Iron all the bits and pieces of the fabric and remove the wrinkles on it before sewing. there may be minor size change or even it could be a cause for major finishing defects so, it's recommended to both beginners as well as to the pros to iron and sew.

#4: Tip for Thread Selection: 

Always select the sewing thread in the exact color of the cloth because it could hide the major type of stitch defects.

#01: Do not cut paper using the fabric cutting scissors because it will dull to blades.


#02: Use a piece of velvet fabric to clean the dust on the sewing machine. These make great wipes. 

#03: The seam Ripper/Buttonhole opener is a Tailoring eraser. It helps to correct any sort of stitch defects.

#04: Do not throw off the old makeup brushes, you could use them for cleaning your Sewing Machine.

#05:
 Wire needle threader helps in threading the hand & machine needle without any vision strain. 

#06: For Seam neatening use Zig-Zag scissors to cut the edges of the fabric. It could also help to prevent fabric fraying.

#07: 
Do not keep the needles or pins in the mouth while tailoring or embroidery. Use a Pincushion to avoid such mistakes.


#08: To set proper thread tension on your sewing machine, use 2 different color threads to thread the machine and then, take the sample stitches to check the stitch formation.


#09: Oil and/or clean the Sewing Machine if it makes noise.


#10: For safety measures, unplug the sewing machine after every use and/or at the end of the day.

INTRODUCTION

The ladder / an invisible stitch is a very important stitch type among the hundreds of hand stitch variations. It's also called a magical stitch because of its neat final look. Ladder stitch plays a vital role in the soft toy and pillow manufacturing industries. After stuffing the toy and the pillow will fillers the opening area is enclosed with this type of stitch. 

To stitch the ladder stitch, you have to pass the needle as shown in the image above which forms a ladder pattern, that could also be the reason for its name. There is also a simple formula to form this stitch, which is given above.

  1. For enclosing the opening of a pillow/soft toy
  2. For sewing the hairband opening 
  3. and also, For joining any 2 fabric parts
